Central Rappahannock Heritage Center Public Outreach
As I’m writing this in March 2026, this Omeka site is still under construction. For my Adventures in Digital History class, three of my peers and I are working on a public outreach project for an archive in the Fredericksburg area called the Central Rappahannock Heritage Center (CRHC). We are using this site to upload pictures the Center is digitizing from their collection and will create commenting features for people to help fill in some of the gaps of information about people and locations of the images from the Fredericksburg area. We are also currently in progress of creating a social media presence using YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook to help boost engagement with the Center and pull in some more resources – specifically with donations and volunteer help.
Cassette Tapes
During the Fall 2025 semester at UMW I along with three peers from my American Technology & Culture class created a website and 15 minute documentary on the inventions and cultural impact of cassette tapes in the late 20th century. My individual contributions to the research component of this project can be found under the various pages in the “Impact” section. I also contributed to writing the script and transcript for the documentary, conducting, editing, and writing the transcript for the interview with UMW librarian, Mr. Peter Catlin, and filming the interview with Dr. Caffrey and other clips in the documentary, all of which can be found under the “Documentary” tab.
Advertising in Better Homes & Gardens
This branch of my website has my work for HIST 299: Intro to the Study of History that I took during the Spring 2025 semester at UMW. My research was based in two publications from Better Homes & Gardens from February and November of 1955 and specifically the advertisements for home products. The final paper focuses on how the changes in the perceptions of what is women’s work in the home was in the 1950s due to technological innovation can be reflected in advertisement messaging in women’s magazines.
