We’re already halfway through the semester, and spring break has (sadly) come and gone, so let’s have a quick check in on where we’re at.
Updates on Our CRHC Project
Before break, I went down to the Heritage Center in Downtown Fredericksburg to meet with two of our project partners, Roy McAfee and Roger Lawson. I’d never been to the Center before, so they gave me a tour, and it was amazing to see just the amount of pieces they have in their collection. There was so much history, so many people’s lives and stories being held in this old school gym, and it gave me a newfound appreciation for the opportunity to do this project and an understanding of the importance of our project.
We discussed in person our goals for the project and they were super excited to have our help with social media outreach since that’s a little outside their wheelhouse. They also expressed that they wanted to use the social media platform to also reach potential donors as they have lots of equipment that needs updating so that they can more efficiently work through digitizing their collections. Hannah, Caitlin, and I are heading downtown to the archive this weekend to work out some more questions, like where the website is going to be transferred to long term when this project finishes in this class, so stay tuned!
